Life Begins At The End of Your Comfort Zone

As I sit here writing this first ever journal entry I’m still not sure if it’s something I’ll publish or leave for me to look back on. (I guess this answers this question :) )

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone so do one thing every day that scares you.”This November I turned 40. I can’t say I feel any different from when I turned 20. What I can say is that there are many lessons I’ve learned along the way. Lessons I wish I could have shared with my 20 year old self. What would be some things you’d share with a younger you? Would you tell yourself you’re so young you have a whole life ahead of you? Or maybe “take the leap and believe in yourself. You can do anything you put your mind to.”

Last week we were researching quotes, affirmations and different subjects we can cover on our Happy Someone blog and talk show and I came across two very simple but powerful quotes I’ve seen before but never really paid attention to. The first quote was “Do something today that your future self will thank you for”, and the other was “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone so do one thing every day that scares you.” I have to tell you when we post quotes and affirmations on our Happy Someone site we try our best to live by them.

After all, this is the reason we started Happy Someone. We want to not only inspire others but to inspire ourselves as well. They say kids learn from what they see their parents do. Happy Someone community is part of our family and we need to live by example. We need to practice what we preach. For us a quote is not a quote. Quotes are spoken words taken from people who have made a difference in our world. Quotes are their way of living, acting or seeing the world around them. They’ve been there done that and their words inspire the world to grow wings and live life to the fullest, the way we were born to live.

For those that know me, know my passion for homes. I’ve lived in many. Made some very good and some not so very good investments. For the past three years I’ve been into house numerology, and friends will often call me to find out if the home they’re interested in purchasing is a good match for them and their families. I’ll drive around and do math in my head trying to figure out the characteristics of a home. I’m also known for starting major home projects on my own while Ralph is out of town on a business trip. I’ve ripped out carpet and installed new flooring all on my own, and the list goes on and on.

So on December 29th as I was watching HGTV those two quotes I had previously read came to mind. How about if I could turn my passion into something more? I decided right then that I would get my real estate license. Mind you it’s only a 4 week course but after that I would need to find a job with a real estate office, interview and stuff like that. You know “stuff” I haven’t really done in a very long time. I’ve been a stay at home mom for over 5 years and before that I was running our family business from the house. Lo and behold when I presented the idea to my family they all said to give it a try and my sister in law decided she wanted to try it too. So not only am I trying something new, I inspired someone to come with me on this journey.

Are you up for the challenge? Will you try something new in 2014? I hope so. To inspire you I will be posting small things about my journey here.

I would love to hear about things you’ve dreamt of trying but were too afraid or haven’t found the time? Have you done something out of your comfort zone? How did it go? Isn’t life about inspiring others?

Let’s make a difference in our world this 2014.

Let’s inspire and be inspired!!! :)
